Ingredients
  

  • 4 large portobello mushroom caps
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Burger buns
  • Customizable toppings of your preference, including lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, condiments, and more.

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  • Place the portobello mushroom caps in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour the marinade over them. Make sure the mushrooms are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to develop.
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat. Apply a light coating of oil to the grates to prevent sticking.
  • Place the marinated mushroom caps on the grill, gill side down. Grillfor about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the mushrooms are tender and slightly charred. Baste with any remaining marinade while grilling for extra flavour.
  • While the mushrooms are grilling, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill if desired.
  • Remove the mushroom caps from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Slice them if desired.
  • Assemble your mushroom burgers by placing the grilled mushroom caps on the buns and adding your favourite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion,cheese, or any condiments of your choice.
  • Serve the mushroom burgers warm and enjoy!
